The
79-year-old Dutch director was already impressed with the
Pennsylvania-born blonde when he directed her as Arnold Schwarzenegger's
manipulative wife in Total Recall.
[Catherine Tramell] was not an easy part to get,' Stone - who was paid $500K - revealed on Oprah's Master Class in 2014.
'They
offered it to 12 or 13 other women who turned it down. So it wasn't

The cross-legging
role of the homicidal bisexual author required full nudity, explicit
love scenes, and violence - which did not impress the likes of Julia
Roberts, Kim Basinger, or Meg Ryan.
Basic
Instinct was a massive hit, amassing $352.9M at the global box office
and earning Oscar nods for editing and score as well as Golden Globe
nods for Sharon and score.
However,
Stone's second effort as Catherine in Michael Caton-Jones'
dismally-reviewed 2006 flop Basic Instinct 2 only earned $38.6M back
from its hefty $70M budget.
