Somebody at MI6 is getting fired...
Those of you tuning in to see Daniel Craig dashing across the rooftops of Prague in Casino Royale on telly tonight (August 4) were probably a bit shaken and stirred.
In a puzzling case fit for 007 himself, James Bond fans are trying to figure out why the wrong Bond film aired during the 9pm slot on ITV4. Both the digital and physical listings have the 2006 version of Casino Royale airing.
According to some fans, the continuity announcer introduced the slot by hyping it as Daniel Craig's first-ever adventure — but it was the 1967 pseudo-spoof version of Casino Royale that played instead.
If this was MI6, we'd imagine Q would be hitting the kill switch on the poor unfortunate soul responsible for the gaffe — but since this is the real world, some hilarious tweets from confused fans will have to do:
Digital Spy has reached out to ITV for clarification on how this scheduling error came about.
On the bright side, it appears Bond fans will soon see Daniel Craig back as 007 following reports that he's on the verge of agreeing to make the next sequel.
Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson have brought veteran Bond writers Neal Purvis and Robert Wade back into the fold for the screenplay, and are on the lookout for directors.
According to the most recent reports, Hell or High Water's David Mackenzie, '71's Yann Demange and Blade Runner 2049's Denis Villeneuve are all in contention to direct the highly-awaited Bond 25.
James Bond 25 will arrive in US cinemas on November 8, 2019, with an earlier opening date for the UK to be announced in due course.
